Nellie - Lou Ellen - Leah

 

• Trail: Sugar Loaf to Deadman -Fish Lake area
• Miles: 9
• Riders: Self - Lee - Patty - Mark
• Horses/Mules: Jack - Douglas - Nellie - Lou Ellen (Towing Leah)
• Dogs: Groot

Notes: First real ride since leaving Arizona. It's much cooler in the mountains than the 105° + days here in the valley. The smoke, although not as heavy as in the valley - was still present. There must be fires all around. 

We rode to the lookout (Russel Mnt) - down Sugar Loaf to Deadman and back to camp. Deadman has recently been cleared so there was little to no bushwhacking. 

Heading back up Wednesday with Drifter. THEN Thursday, the temps are supposed to start cooling off some.

Notes: Phil is up from AZ for the summer. He stopped in to help with the NSC  before heading on farther north and central Oregon. He left Twister at home so he rode Jack while I rode Drifter.

Drifter is doing better since his wreck in AZ that left him sketchy about saddling and putting your foot in the stirrup. He seems a little worried still about being saddled but once it's on he does fine.

Dan and Robyn

• Miles: 14
• Riders: Self - Phil - Dan - Robyn
• Horses: Drifter - Jack - Tater - Bullseye
• Dogs: Groot - Pearl

Notes: Pre new shooter clinic ride. Dan, Robyn and Phil came up to help put on the NSC over the 6th. I took them up to Mud Lake. Phil didn't bring Twister so he rode Jack and I rode Drifter. First time I've ridden to the lake since I was a little kid on my pony Prince. At least Drifter didn't buck me off or lay down in the middle of the lake like Prince was famous for.
