Trail Log: 9-9-2025

Me and Driff pushing them along while George and The D plug the holes

  • Trail: Slaughterhouse - Lone Fir Rd - Cattle Drive
  • Miles: 4.5
  • Riders: Self - The D- George
  • Horses: Drifter - Jack - Sorrel
  • Dogs: Nope

Notes:  The D needed to move his cows from Slaughterhouse to the Thomas place off Lone Fir. Still without a ridable horse, he rode Jack. I sort of held my breath - the last person that rode Jack moving cows down the pavement got dumped on his butt. Granted - D can ride and I'm beginning to think Jack likes him better than me these days. I think Drifter would rather chase cows than do anything else. Maybe I should get back to roping or try sorting or something with cows.

Cool old house

Trail Log: 9-3-2025

My boys

  • Trail: Duck Lake - Blue Hole
  • Miles: 10.83
  • Riders: Self - The D
  • Horses: Drifter - Jack
  • Dogs: Left Groot at home

Notes: Finally was able to take The D on a trail he had not been. We dropped off the backside of Duck Lake to Indian Crossing and rode in to Blue Hole. The river is down far enough that you can see good sized trout in the hole. Met a lady hiker who is going to be playing at the Pine Fest this weekend and a couple hiking with their dog. The water is COLD but it's one of those places you just gotta...

Drifter took the lead most of the way in and did great with the water crossings. It's nice being able to take both horses but I am sure The D is looking forward to riding one of his own horses again.

That was quite the balancing act
