Trail Log: 1-19-2023

  •  Trail: Eagle Eye Rd - South toward Harquahala Mnt. Range
  • Miles: 3
  • Riders: Self - Phil
  • Horses: Drifter - Tank
  • Dogs: Hank - Groot

Notes: Finally stopped raining! Beautiful day for a ride. Low 50's - with no wind and full sun. We hauled up Eagle Eye Rd. and put in at a wide spot and explored around. We got off trail and ended up in a LOT of cholla. Probably not a great idea riding a colt, but Drifter handles so well that we manage to weave around and avoid them. I tried his easy boot gloves...they worked great. I intentionally hit some fairly rugged terrain and they stayed put and did not rub his ankles or the balls of his feet. Groot chased something up - it was either a deer or a burro. As loud as it was and as interested as Drifter was in it, I would bet on a burro. We didn't go very far but the terrain was rough enough that if felt like it and was plenty for Drifter.
