Trail Log: 11-26-2020

Tombstone Livery

  •  Trail: Tombstone Monument
  • Miles: 4.02
  • Riders: Self - Blake
  • Horses: Jack - J'Lo

Notes: Blake and I rode up to the Tombstone Monument. It is a monument to Ed Schieffelin, prospector and founder of Tombstone. Ed went in search of silver. A friend and fellow army scout told Ed that the only stone he was going to find out there would be his tombstone. When Ed struck it rich, to the tune of 85 million in silver over the course of Tombstone's mining history...Ed named the town Tombstone.

Blake dismounted to get a closer look at the monument. He soon disappears. Then next time I see him he's climbed to the top of the monument. He said it was easier going up than down. The sudden arrival of a side-by-side coming towards us prompted a swift remount and we skedaddled into the wash before we got arrested for illegal monument scaling.
