Notes: Drifter's third pony experience. He's been doing so well we struck out on our own. I can open the gate without getting off while towing him - which is handy because I only have so many get-on's in a day. We went a different route than I've gone before. We went farther west before turning toward the highway and looping back.
We had to go down a steep bank into a wash. I let out his lead and put Jack in the wash. That left Drifter about a leads length above us. If he had wanted too - or panicked - he could have jumped on top of us. I didn't want to drag him across so Jack held him there while he thought about it for a few seconds and slid on into the wash and climbed out the other side. He acted like he was proud of himself and dove right in the rest of the washes like it was a game.
A beautiful, sunny day at close to 80 degrees.
